Advanced Meshing Course - snappyHexMesh

 

 

This advanced course is aimed to those who want to make an effective use of blockMesh and snappyHexMesh to create high-quality meshes for industrial purposes. During this course, we also cover mesh quality assessment, mesh manipulation, mesh conversion and solution dependency on the mesh quality and size.

Brief introduction to OpenFOAM® meshing technology

Understanding blockMesh and snappyHexMesh dictionaries

Mesh quality assessment

Mesh manipulation and conversion utilities

Understanding snappyHexMesh workflow

blockMesh blocking topologies

Meshing in parallel

Creating regions for dynamic meshes

Creating baffles

Adaptive mesh refinement

Setting boundary conditions and initial conditions

Boundary layer meshing and y+ estimation

Mesh dependency studies

 

As CFD optimization highly relies on parametrization of the geometry generation and meshing stages, this course is offered the day previous to the advanced optimization course. If you are interested in following the optimization training, we highly recommend you to follow this session.

 

This classroom training is offered in cooperation with the University of Genova. The fee includes the printed material and a USB key with the supporting material. Attendees are not required to bring their own laptop since workstations with pre-installed software will be available.
