Wolf Dynamics - Multiphysics simulations, optimization, and data analytics

OpenFOAM Mentoring

Besides consulting services, we also offer mentoring services which are one-on-one coaching on your specific problem. This level of support is aimed at lowering the entry barrier that new OpenFOAM® users encounter at affordable prices.

Mentoring services consist mainly, but are not limited to:

Guidance in setting cases

Mesh generation and solid modeling

Assessing mesh quality and CAD cleaning

Support in the selection of the best simulation parameters

Guidance implementing additional features and basic programming

Scripting, plotting, and data analytics

Useful tips to speed up the simulation workflow

Best standard practices

Installation and compilation

Automation of the simulation workflow

Coupling OpenFOAM® with an optimization loop

High performance computing and cloud computing

Scientific visualization

The pricing policy of the mentoring service is as follows,

 LevelOnline - Remote
1 7 hours - 600 EUR
2 14 hours - 1100 EUR
3 24 hours - 1800 EUR

Mentoring services are offered online, but according to your needs it can be delivered onsite. For more information do not hesitate in This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Mentoring is not only limited to OpenFOAM®, if you are interested in conducting this service with a different software (e.g., Ansys Fluent, Onshape, spaceClaim), please contact us for more information.

Note 1: prices are not VAT inclusive

Note 2: for remote mentoring, we use Zoom online conferencing application, which is free in the client side. We can also use the tool of your preference.

Note 3: for remote mentoring time is totalized by a fraction of an hour, where a fraction of an hour is equivalent to 60 minutes. For example, 5 min, 10 min, 28 min, 45 min, or 58 min will be totalized as 1 hour.

Note 4: mentoring services are intended to provide general information about the problem that is being studied and is not to be considered a formal consulting service.  Under no circumstance, we will give our opinion about the validity, usefulness, reliability, and accuracy of the results (preliminary or final), nor we will write a final report.

Note 5: we reserve the right of running cases from scratch.

Note 6: if the mentee asks for running cases from scratch and if we agree in running the simulations, every single case (up to 1.5 million cells) will be accounted for one hour. Large cases (cases with more than 1.5 million cells) or complicated cases (cases requiring the use of advanced physics, such as moving bodies, source terms, or conjugate heat transfer), will be accounted for three hours. Depending on the complexity of the case, additional hours may be added. The previous conditions apply only for steady simulations. For unsteady simulations, more hours will be added.

Note 7:  in order to properly assess the simulation and give guidance, the mentee must provide us with a detailed log file of the simulation. Therefore, before contracting mentoring services, the mentee should have a proper working case.

Note 8: cases with a solution sent to us for inspection will be accounted for one hour of mentoring (up to four cases). Large cases or unsteady solutions might be accounted for at least two hours.

Note 9: the maximum time frame to complete remote mentoring level 1 is three months, level 2 is six months, and level 3 is twelve months.

Note 10: when conducting remote mentoring, the parties involved should agree on the meeting time.
